Drive thru lights at park were big hit!

Elijah Clark State Park Friends’ Group presented the community and visitors with wonderful drive-thru lighted Christmas displays this year. Over 20 displays, many of which were hand made by Friends of the Park, were on view every Friday and Saturday night in December until Christmas Day. A Christmas elf (Nolia Biggerstaff, Friends member) greeted each car and presented children with candy canes. Over 1,000 children and many, many adults delighted in the beautiful park drive, which included 8-foot nutcrackers, 5-foot elves and gingerbread people and a lighted pier which could be seen in South Carolina. Many visitors said the displays were the highlight of the area and offered many positive comments and ‘thanks’ to the Friends, park hosts, and park leadership for the lovely holiday experience. Many visitors said they saw the lights from the highway and came over to the park for their first time. This activity of cooperation between the park and Friends of Elijah Clark Park was a tremendous success and provided a positive holiday experience for young and old!
