Lions Club meeting

AA meeting

There is an Alcoholics Anonymous/ Al Anon meeting being held each Tuesday Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the old Leah Fire Dept station across from Pair of Jacks on Washington Rd. in Leah Georgia.

Bible study Wed., Sun.

Blessed Hope Ministry invites the public to join them Wednesdays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 6 p.m. for bible study, prayer, fellowship and focus on families. Call 706-359-6759 for more information.

Masons to meet

The Lincolnton Masonic Lodge 354 holds its regular meeting os the third Thursday of every month. Dinner is served at 6:30 with the meeting starting at 7:30.

Cookbook avail.

A Lincoln County Historical Society cookbook will make the perfect gift for the brides in your family. The cookbooks not only have great recipes but also a brief history of the Lincoln County landmarks that have been moved into the park and restored. The money from the cookbooks will be used to maintain our Historical Park. Get your copy at Crawford and Breazeale Drug Store.

Bible study

You are invited to a Community Bible Study each Thursday Night at Lincolnton Church of Christ, 1832 Highway 220 W.

Zumba classes

The Y is offering Zumba classes at Lincoln County Recreation Gym, 1972 Rowland-York Road on Tuesdays & Thursdays at 6:45 p.m. Cost is $35 for 8 classes. Zumba Fitness is the only Latin-inspired dancefitness program that blends red-hot international music and contagious steps to form a “fitness-party” that is downright addictive. Financial assistance available.

Bible study

Bible study will be held at Pleasant Grove C.M.E. Church every first and third Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m.

Dinner served

Every Friday at is steak night at American Legion Post 194. Menu includes a generous portion of steak, baked potato, shrimp cocktail, large variety salad bar, Texas toast, delicious homemade dessert and iced tea beginning at 7 p.m.

Enjoy a delicious home cooked meal every Wednesday night beginning at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday dining menu changes weekly.

Dial-A-Prayer line

Faith Tabernacle Outreach Ministries offers a Dial-A-Prayer line. If you or someone you know is in need of prayer please call 706-359-1638 and we will pray with you and for you. Prayer lines are available Mon. - Fri., 2-4 p.m.

Donations needed

Silver Lining Foundation of Newberry Missionary Baptist Church, a foundation that provides financial assistance to help cover travel and meals for patients that are being treated for cancer, is in need of financial support. Cookbook available

Heavenly Manna Vol. II, a cookbook compiled by the members of Double Branches Baptist Church, is on sale at the Lincoln County Library for $10 each. Cookbooks may also be purchased by calling Emily Strozier at 359-4292.

Friday night bingo

Play Bingo at American Legion Post 194 on Fridays at 7:30 p.m. Enjoy a variety of goodies at the Snack Bar operated by the Ladies Auxiliary during Bingo. Special Bingo games are also played. Come out and see if you are lucky enough to win the Jackpot.

Midway cookbook

Midway UMC ‘s “Midway to Heaven” cookbook is now available from Tommie Henderson (Henderson Logging); Brenda Danner Mc- Gahee (tag office); in Washington from Betty Sue Bunch (REA) or Linda Anthony (706-678-7616).

In addition to recipes group photos from 1930, 1950’s, 1964, 1999 and church history data are included. Makes a wonderful gift. $15.

Substance abuse class

Parks Grove F.B.H. Church is now having Substance Abuse Classes every Monday night from 8-9 p.m. These classes are open to men and women. Rev. Tonita Cody is pastor.

Day camp offered

Creating friendships and adventures! Camp Lakeside, located at 1238 Dogwood Drive in Lincolnton, is offering day camp for ages 5 – 17 years for $80 per week and overnight camp for kids ages 7 – 14 years starting at $275 from June 16 – July 26. Financial assistance available.

Swim programs

The Y is offering swim programs for ages 6 months to 5 years and adults 16 and up for $55 at the Lincoln County Recreation Pool, 1972 Rowland-York Road. Swim teach water introduction and basic swimming skills twice a week for 4 weeks beginning June 24. Financial assistance available.

Quilt Guild to meet

The Classic South Quilt Guild will meet Fri., June 28 at 3 p.m. in Wesley Hall of First United Methodist Church in Washington. Quilters and those interested in quilting are invited.

FOL to meet

The Friends of the Lincoln County Library will meet at 4:30 p.m. Thurs., June 27 in the Dova Partridge Room. Visitors are welcomed.

Workshop Sat.

The Lincoln County Sunday Union will sponsor a workshop at 5 p.m. on Sat., June 29 at New Tabernacle Baptist Church. The presenter will be Caroline Richardson, County Extension Agent. Caroline has been with the UGA Cooperative Extension for 28 years, serving Glascock, Warren and McDuffie Counties for the past 13 years.

Post 597 Luau

Thomas-Lane American Legion Post 597 will host a “Hawaiian Luau” on Sat., June 29, beginning at 9 p.m. An evening filled with fun and laughter will await you. Dress in your grass skirts or other Hawaiian attire and come prepared for hula dancing, line dancing and much more.

D. J. “BULL” will provide the music. Mark your calendars now for this pre – Fourth of July celebration and make plans to join your friends for a great evening of entertainment.

Church anniversary

First Baptist Church will celebrate its church anniversary July 28th at 2 p.m. Rev. Favors and Springfield Baptist Church of Thomson, Ga. will be in charge of the service. The public is invited. Rev. Dennis is pastor.

Food pantry hours

The Lincoln County Food Pantry will be open on Tues., July 2 instead of Thurs., July 4. Clients who are scheduled for Thurs., July 4 pick-up should report on Tuesday instead. We appreciate your cooperation.

Body toning class

The Y is offering Body Toning Classes at Lincoln County Recreation Gym, 1972 Rowland-York Road, Lincolnton, on Mondays at 7 p.m.. Cost is $35 for 8 classes. Meet new friends in a positive, women friendly environment. Body Toning uses weights and aerobic activity to tone, increase heart rate and burn calories. Financial assistance is available.

Society to meet Aug. 7

The Lincoln County Historical Society will not meet in July due to the Independence Day Holiday, additionally, there will not be a July History in the Park talk. The next membership meeting will be held at noon on Wed., Aug. 7. There will be a July board of directors’ meeting Mon., July 1, 7 p.m. at the May House and the next History in the Park talk will be Thurs., Aug. 1 at 7 p.m. Dr. Walter Andrae will discuss “The Revolutionary War in this Neck of the Woods.”

Democrats to meet

The Lincoln County Democratic Party meets every first Monday in each month at the Lincoln County Public Library. In order to stay informed and active, please plan to attend meetings and join forces with other citizens.

You can become a member of the Democratic Party simply by contributing ($2.00) monthly. We look forward to hearing from you.

The Y is offering Chair Aerobics Classes at the Lincoln County Recreation Gym, 1972 Rowland-York Road, Lincolnton, on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 am. Cost is $35 for 8 classes. Chair aerobics classes are a low impact work-out for individuals who cannot stand for long periods of time or have trouble with their balance. Financial assistance available.

The Y is offering Active Older Adult Classes at the Lincoln County Recreation Gym, 1972 Rowland- York Road, Lincolnton, on Mondays & Wednesdays at 10:30 am. Cost is $35 for 8 classes. Couponing class

Latricia Inglett and Ebony Cullars will host a couponing class on Sun., July 21 in the Dova Partridge Annex of the Lincoln County Library beginning at 2:30 p.m. Learn the best and smartest ways to coupon and how to understand the different terms used in ads. There will be a $5 charge to cover the cost of materials or you may make a dog food donation to the Washington Wilkes Humane Shelter.

Usher anniversary

Mt. Zion Baptist Church will celebrate its usher anniversary July 14 at 3 p.m. Guest speaker will be Rev. William of the Praise Team Spring Field Baptist Church, Washington. The public is invited.

LCBTA meetings

The following dates are the regular scheduled meeting of the Lincoln County Board of Tax Assessors. All meetings will be held in the conference room of the Lincoln County Courthouse at 6 p.m. Any changes in dates and times will be posted on the bulletin board of the courthouse, the website and the front door of the tax assessors office.

The dates are July 16, Aug. 20, Sept. 17, Oct. 15, Nov. 19, Dec. 17.

Softball camp

Lady Devil Softball Camp will be held July 15 - 16 from 6-9 p.m. at LCHS softball field. Cost is $40 with a $10 discount for second child in the immediate family.

The camp is for girls ages 8 - 18 (rising third - twelfth graders). Registration forms located at the high school, Lincoln County Library, Family Connections, Bell’s, Maxway, Dollar General and Family Dollar.

Election board meetings

Lincoln County Board of Elections meetings for 2013 are as follows: June 27, July 25, Aug. 22, Sept. 26, Oct. 24, Nov. 14, Dec. 5.
